The School for Continuing and Professional Studies at Saint Xavier University is designed for adult students to accommodate their demanding lifestyle around their academic program. It provides a variety of opportunities for adults who are establishing new careers, completing a degree or enriching personal/professional development skills. There is flexible scheduling in the evenings and on weekends to meet the needs of adult students. The School for Continuing and Professional Studies curriculum is structured in an accelerated and/or traditional instructional format that promotes self-directed learning on the part of each student; it is designed to make the fullest possible use of student’s personal and professional experience. Thus each student is viewed as a collaborator in both inquiry and reflection.
The School for Continuing and Professional Studies offers students resources that will allow them greater opportunity for academic success as well as options to earn credit towards their undergraduate degree. Adult students receive individualized academic advising which assists students with their academic careers, opportunities to earn credit(s) through testing (CLEP), credit for prior learning, and/or preparatory courses (English, Chemistry and Mathematics) for students who need guided practice prior to entering college courses in these areas.
