History and Political Science Minors

Requirements for Minor Programs

Students should consult with a department faculty member when considering a minor.

International Studies Minor

Students must complete 18 hours including:

  1. POLSC 102 World Politics
  2. One comparative politics course
  3. One international relations course
  4. One course in international economic studies: (ANTH 245, BUS 300, POLSC 336)
  5. Two courses from regional/areas studies (consult department)

Public Administration Minor

This minor involves courses from a number of departments in the School of Arts and Sciences; as well as the Graham School of Management. Courses in political science, sociology, communication and economics are required as follows; consult a department advisor. Students must complete 18 hours as follows:

  1. Nine (9) hours in political science including:
    1. POLSC 101 United States Government
    2. POLSC 208 Public Administration
    3. POLSC 301 Public Policy Analysis
  2. Three (3) hours in sociology; choose one of the following courses:
    1. SOC 240 Sociology of Cities and Suburbs
    2. SOC 306 Social Psychology
    3. SOC 356 Work and Occupations
  3. Three (3) hours in communication; choose one of the following courses:
    1. COMM 235 Organizational Communication I
    2. COMM 244 Introduction to Public Relations
    3. COMM 335 Organizational Communication II
  4. Three (3) hours in economics:
    1. BUS 201 Principles of Economics - Micro
