Three SXU Volleyball Players Earn All-CCAC Honors

Joliet, Ill. – The Saint Xavier University volleyball team had three players named to the 2009 All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Volleyball Team when the conference office released the teams late Friday. Sophomore middle blocker Kim Scudder (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) earned a spot on the All-CCAC First Team, while freshmen outside hitters Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) and Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) both represented SXU on the conference’s honorable mention squad.

Scudder led the team in blocks with 101 total stops, including 40 solos. She also posted 332 kills and an attack percentage of .287 over 41 matches and had a team-best 62 service aces on the year. Mullaney led the Cougars with 382 kills and was second overall in digs as well with 257. Knudsen also had an impressive freshman campaign with SXU finishing with 357 kills and 57 service aces.

Saint Xavier finished 19-22 overall and fourth in the CCAC final regular-season standings with a 6-4 mark. The Cougars also claimed the No. 4 seed in the eight-team CCAC Volleyball Tournament last weekend and went 1-2 in their three pool-play matches.
