Ms. Gretchen Helfrich - Public Radio Moderator
Public Radio Moderator Gretchen Helfrich delivered a lecture titled "Knowledge, the
Media and 'the Good Life' - Reactions of a Public Radio Broadcaster" at Saint Xavier
University as a guest lecturer for the Honors Program.
Helfrich is host of Odyssey, one of Chicago Public Radio's syndicated programs, which
explores in depth the compelling issues of our time. She challenges students and adults
in the audience to embrace the challenges of Socrates' "Examined Life." She led her
listeners through an intriguing odyssey of her own, that wove together the ethical
and social imperatives that demand engagement in an intellectually active life.
