Special Education Endorsement
The Special Education Endorsement prepares teachers who already hold an Illinois PEL (Professional Educator License) to obtain LBS I endorsement attached to the grade level of their existing PEL with the four courses determined by Illinois state requirements. Any student possessing an Illinois teaching license meets the admission criteria of the SOE. This endorsement is designed for K-12 teachers. The Special Education Endorsement is designed for licensed teachers seeking to obtain Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS I) endorsement in Illinois.
Required coursework for LBS I endorsement include:

- EDGSP 520: Characteristics of Students with Disabilities
- EDGSP 524: Diagnostic Assessment for Educational Decision-making
