Saint Xavier University is a four-year, coeducational, Catholic institution with an enrollment of over 5,705 men and women. One of the first institutions of higher education in the State of Illinois, Saint Xavier University was founded by the Sisters of Mercy and chartered in 1847. The student body today reflects a diverse mixture of traditional age and adult learners, commuter, residential and international students. The current student-faculty ratio is 16-1. The academic year consists of two four-month semesters and summer sessions. Classes are conveniently offered within day, evening and weekend time frames.
