Meet the Staff

Michael Grimm

Michael Grimm

Associate Director
Production Services

Michael joined Saint Xavier University as a staff member in 2008. He completed his studies in Mass Communication and Art at SXU, where he was honored with the “Outstanding Art & Design Student” award. Prior to joining SXU, Michael worked on multimedia productions while freelancing for various production companies. In conjunction with working at Saint Xavier University, Michael continues to work as a commercial photographer and studio artist.

 

Yue Ma

Yue Ma

Senior Instructional Designer

Yue consults with Saint Xavier University faculty on uses of instructional technologies and provides support for MyCourses and MyCommunity. Influenced by Dewey’s “Learning by Doing”, Yue firmly believes that the best way to adopt instructional technology is through practice. So she is eager to meet with SXU faculty to discuss different possibilities for integrating emerging technologies into the classroom (face-to face as well as online) to promote learning.

 

Joshua Van Tuyl

Associate Director
Media Services

Josh Van Tuyl is the Associate Director of Media Service at Saint Xavier University where he oversees media circulation, classroom technology support, and audio visual installations. He has directed and edited numerous lectures and feature programs for the University. Josh is known for his directorial work on Chicago’s Only Castle: The History of Givins Irish Castle and Its Keepers and is also a Member of the Board of Directors for Terra Nova Films, a non-profit organization that produces and distributes films centered on aging.

 

Joe Verble

Technology Integration Specialist

Joe first came to Saint Xavier University as a transfer student in 2004, getting his BA in Mass Communication in 2006. As a student, he was awarded the Technician Fellowship while working for Media Services. In 2009, he was hired as the Evening Operations Manager for Media Services. As of late 2012, he is now the Technical Support Manager. His aim is to solve technological problems, perform minor repairs, and assist others with any questions or issues. He believes that support and service are the foundation of a good business and improving the quality of education through the use of cutting edge technology.

Assistant Provost for Technology and Instructional Innovation

Director, Center for Instructional Design and Academic Technology 

Chris joined Saint Xavier University in 2010 as the Director for the Center for Instructional Design and Academic Technology. His work within CIDAT focuses on developing a comprehensive approach to technology adoption and instructional development, as well as identifying new ways to foster and spread innovative teaching among Saint Xavier faculty. He believes that faculty is not a homogeneous group and therefore growth in technology adoption must be fostered one-on-one.
