The School of Education programs include the Master of Arts in Education and the Master of Arts in Counseling. These programs promote the acquisition and application of knowledge through participation in scholarly, professional, and civic arenas.
The School of Education offers graduate programs that are available to individuals seeking initial teacher certification or for individuals who currently hold a teaching certificate and are looking to further their education through graduate study.
The Masters of Arts in Counseling program is designed to prepare professional counselors to work in a variety of settings. Students learn to counsel individuals and groups concerning social, educational, psychological, career, and life planning domains. Students in the Master of Arts in Counseling program can choose between the School Counseling and Community Agency Counseling tracks.
School Counseling- Prepares counselors to address the academic, psychological, and social needs of students; assist students in recognizing their academic potential; provide students with career advisement; serve as advocates, consultants, and educational leaders to help students succeed academically, personally, and professionally.
Community Agency Counseling- Students will receive training in counseling skills and techniques, including: diagnosis and evaluative services, working with individuals and groups experiencing psychological difficulties, providing career guidance, and coping with an array of life challenges and/or transitions.
