SOE Scholarships and Awards
Applications must be completed and submitted by December 15 at 4 p.m. Letters of Recommendation must be postmarked or hand-delivered by December 15 at 4 p.m. Only complete applications which follow scholarship's directions (including recommendations) will be considered. You will be notified if your application is incomplete.
The first step in the application process is to determine if you are eligible. Every student's individual financial aid package may determine their eligibility as well the amount of scholarship monies that they can qualify for. Before applying please check with Financial Aid. The Dorothy Ritter Davis Scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Education with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. This scholarship is funded by a donation from the late Dorothy Ritter Davis, class of 1933. Past tuition grants have been approximately $7,200.
The Elaine Gallagher Scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Education who are science majors in secondary education or students in early childhood or elementary education who may teach science at any level. This scholarship is funded by a donation from the estate of alumna Elaine Gallagher and gifts given in her memory. Past tuition grants have been approximately $1,100.
The Lloyd Leake Scholarship is open to undergraduate African-American students in the School of Education. This scholarship is funded by the family of the late Dr. Lloyd Leake, former dean of the School of Education. Past tuition grants have been approximately $2,900.
The George and Eunice McGuire Scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Education. This scholarship is funded by the estate of the late Dr. George and Mrs. Eunice McGuire. Past tuition grants have been awarded to one undergraduate and one graduate winner. This year's scholarship award for each is $6,100.
The George McGuire Award recognizes an alumnus or alumna for distinguished service to Saint Xavier University and the field of education.
The Sister Mary Dominic Merwick Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award recognizes an undergraduate student who has displayed high academic achievement, exemplary student teaching and service to education.
The Sister M. Irenaeus Chekouras Outstanding Graduate Student Award recognizes a graduate student who has displayed high academic achievement, service to education and outstanding contribution to scholarship, based on excellence in writing as evidenced by a research project or other scholarly paper.
