First Day for First-Years
First Day for First-Years (FDFY) is what we call the first day of your first semester here at SXU! FDFY is a day-long program designed to welcome all new first-year students to the academic community and to allow each of you to experience a unique SXU tradition. Your academic career officially begins Friday, August 23rd and will include a University welcome, a lecture and discussion about this year's Common Reading, parent and family information sessions, New Student Induction and the Family Picnic. The parent programs will end directly following the picnic. Transitions and Welcome Week events will begin that afternoon and continue on that evening, throughout the weekend and throughout the first week of classes.
Please plan to join us no later than 8:30 a.m. on Friday, August 23 in the Shannon Athletic Center to check-in for the day's events. Proper attire is requested for the morning program: no jeans, shorts, caps or gym shoes. Afternoon activities will continue until late in the evening, so we encourage you to bring a change of clothes and gym shoes. Organized activities will conclude at 10 p.m.
**Parents of first-years must register for the day's events.
