Excelsior College Exams®

Saint Xavier University accepts selected Excelsior College Exams® to fulfill certain courses required in the RN-BS Nursing program. The exams are approximately three hours in length and are administered at Prometric Testing Centers (formerly Sylvan). The exams are in a computer-based testing format, and the results are made immediately available.

The following Excelsior Exams are available to SXU's RN-BSN students:

• Life Span Developmental Psychology (Psychology 199; 3 s.h.)
• Abnormal Psychology (Psychology 204; 3 s.h.)

The passing score for these exams is "C."

The following business Excelsior Exams are available for other SXU students::

• Labor Relations (Business 360; 3 s.h.)
• Human Resource Management (Business 410; 3 s.h.)

Registering for an Exam

You may register for an exam online via Excelsior's Web site or by calling 1-888-72EXAMS. (SXU is not an Excelsior Exam testing site).

Study Guides

Students may purchase the official Excelsior College Exams study guide, published by the College Board (see Excelsior Web site). When registering for an exam session, students may also order individual study guides for the tests they are taking.

Fees

Fees for each examination vary; please consult the Excelsior Web site or information brochure for individual exam fees.

Getting Credit

Candidates receive unofficial test results at the completion of each exam. Official Excelsior Exam transcripts are sent to the Office of Records and Registration, where credit will be posted as applicable. Please refer to RN student exam policies above).
