GPA Calculators

The online GPA calculator will help assess a current grade point average and the average depending on possible grades in courses. This is a helpful tool for students who are striving to be on the Dean's List or trying to get off probation.

Students must have a copy of their most current grades, which may be retrieved from the CLAWS Web site. Both Cumulative and semester GPA's may be calculated.

How to Calculate Your GPA*

  • To calculate your Grade Point Average you must know the following:
  • Each grade corresponds to a numerical equivalent, as indicated below.
  • Each course carries a certain number of credits.
  • First, multiply the numerical equivalent of the grade earned in each course by the number of credits each course is worth. The result is known as "Quality Points." For example, a 3-credit course with a grade of C would give you 6 Quality Points (3 x 2= 6.0).
  • Then, add all the quality points together and divide the total by the number of index credits taken. The result is the Grade Point Average.
Grade Numerical Value Credits (Example) Quality Points
A 4 x3= 12
B 3 x3= 9
C 2 x4= 8
D 1 x3= 3
F, I, P, R, W, W7,
