Mission, Purpose, and Guiding Principles
The purpose of the Advisory Council for the Saint Xavier University College of Arts and Sciences is to assist the President and the Dean in advancing the School’s programs, recognition, and fundraising consistent with the University’s mission and its strategic plan to be a top comprehensive university in the Midwest. The Advisory Council will meet semiannually.
The Advisory Council shall be comprised of leaders in various professional and civic fields, as well as alumni and friends of the University. Working in conjunction with the President and the Dean, Advisory Council members shall:
- Support the efforts of the President and the Dean to raise the profile of the College of Arts and Sciences and its programs;
- Provide advice related to program development in the College of Arts and Sciences to meet changing needs of communities and employers;
- Create a circle of friends committed to promoting the study of the arts and sciences;
- Assist in fundraising that supports special initiatives in the College of Arts and Sciences;
- Offer career networks, mentoring, and internships for Arts and Sciences students;
- Sponsor special events promoting the arts and sciences;
- Support programs to encourage the internationalization of the College of Arts and Sciences curriculum; and
- Support the College of Arts and Sciences in efforts to promote social justice and the Mercy Core Values.
Terms of Service
Members shall be invited to serve for overlapping terms of up to 3 years.

- Saint Xavier University will develop a campus master plan that supports and fosters excellence in teaching and learning, student growth and development, and collaboration and collegiality.
- Saint Xavier University will successfully engage institutional constituents, forge a leading university advancement program, and build mission-based transformational giving and philanthropic support.
- Saint Xavier University will significantly increase its visibility and recognition for its people, programs, and services through vigorous and coherent public relations and marketing initiatives.
- Saint Xavier University will develop a rolling, 5-year financial plan that is fiscally responsible, supports the University’s Mission, and improves the overall financial health of the institution.
- Saint Xavier University will prepare a master human resources plan that promotes the recruitment, professional development, and retention of a talented and diverse workforce committed to the core values, mission, and heritage of the institution.
