Summer Grants -College of Arts & Sciences

 

The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications from faculty for summer grant funds to support service projects for departmental/college programs or research/creative projects. This fund makes possible competitive grants in amounts from $500 to $3500 according to guidelines determined by the faculty and the dean. All continuing full-time and portion of full-time faculty are eligible.

Eligible activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Research or creative work – individual or group; faculty-student
• Grant writing to support programmatic initiatives
• Developing a service learning or community-based learning project
• Projects that advance departmental or college strategic goals
• Seminars and certification programs to enhance faculty expertise


Applications must include the following information in clearly labeled sections:
1. Cover sheet with heading “Summer Grants,” your name, department, rank, email, phone, descriptive project title (1-3 lines) and amount requested.
2. Project description no longer than 750 words. Provide a detailed description and timetable for the project or activity for which funding is sought including the purpose or goal of the project. If the project or activity for which you are seeking funding is part of a larger project, please explain how this project fits into the larger project and timeline.
3. Project significance, no longer than 250 words. Explain the value of the project to your scholarly or creative agenda and/or to institutional mission and goals (program, department, college, university).
4. Amount requested, with itemized budget as appropriate.
The number and dollar amount of awards granted will depend upon the number and quality of applications received. All proposals will be reviewed by a faculty committee that will make its recommendations to the dean. The committee members, appointed by the dean, will represent the three constituent units of the college: humanities; math/sciences/computer science; social & behavioral sciences. The committee will evaluate the merit and significance of the proposed projects and make recommendations to the dean who will make the final decision.

Notes: Summer grants are dispersed as stipends after July 1st.
Grant recipients must submit a one page report by September 1st
