Minutes

  • CORE Survey
    • Kathleen Carlson shared select results of the Spring 2003 data, made recommendations for fully utilizing it, and discussed options for administering the CORE survey in Spring 2006.
    • Sarah reported on options and costs for implementing CORE in Spring 2006.  She will follow up with the CORE Institute to clarify additional committee questions.
    • Brian and Julie volunteered to train on SPSS to review the Spring 2003 data.
    • Committee agreed to move forward with administering the CORE, beginning in the first 2-3 weeks of Spring 2006 semester.  We are considering using the 5 digit identifier and mixed administration – paper surveys to residents and online surveys to commuters.
    • Sarah will be contacting the CORE Institute to learn if mixed paper/online administration will invalidate the results and if any social desirability questions are built into the survey.  She will also follow up with Monica Ryan to determine if the ACHA survey is planned for the upcoming year in order to plan for any duplication of survey content.
  • Committee Web site
    • Minutes continue to be posted to the Web site, no other updates at this time.
  • AOD Web site
    • Per Barbara, the Admissions’ parents page link is active
  • Athletics Link
    • Derek will be speaking with Bob Hallberg to confirm including the AODP link as part of the Student Life links.
  • AODP Program History
    • Brian distributed a list of 2004 and 2005 AODP-sponsored events, showing an almost 50% increase in student participation.
  • Brochure Marketing Materials
    • Barbara and Brian have worked on the brochure since the last meeting and it is now in progress.  Alternate handouts are planned for FOCUS/Road to Success if the brochure is not ready for the first session.
  • Alcohol Awareness Week
    • Brian requested that all committee members begin thinking of event ideas for the upcoming NCAAW.
  • Other Topics
    • Brian and Sarah inventoried the supplies remaining from this year and put together an order for upcoming events.  Brian reported that informational brochures and giveaways orders have been put through and are beginning to arrive.
    • Derek and Teryn volunteered to review select AODP-related Web sites and make suggestions for additions to the SXU site.
    • Next meeting set for July 5th at 10 a.m.
