Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Steering Committee

Minutes from July 12, 2007

More parents than students seem to be stopping by the table, but that is generally true of most tables at Road to Success. Giving away a lot of literature. Thank you Brian and Jill for sitting at the table so far! And thank you Brian for organizing all so well!

Three students have expressed interest at Road to Success table so far. We will continue to gather names, and also have a table at the all campus picnic at the start of the semester. We’ll wait until the semester begins to get students together and take the next step with BACCHUS.

CORE Data – Terry will have some information for us about the data next meeting.

Jill had trouble getting 2006 data off of disk. Brian and Jill worked with CORE, who was able to help. Terry should have some information for us at the next meeting

Sarah suggested Eileen (the grad intern in CCS) might be able to help with this. Rae Joyce mentioned that freshmen RAs will have committees this year for programming and one might be able to collaborate with AODP. Maya, FNP from Health Center, is looking for a member of AODP to collaborate with on some alcohol awareness programming to students that week. Anyone want to take this on? Please talk to Michelle.

Michelle will make sure AODP is represented at a table at the all campus picnic.
Sarah mentioned that Eating Disorders Awareness Week is end of Feb/beginning of March. Maybe Health Center would want to collaborate with CCS on that.
Rae Joyce asked if AODP is still holding classes on Saturdays for students who violated alcohol policy. Brought up conversation about fines as sanctions or part of sanctions. Maybe a fine for drinking could go toward programming for alcohol awareness/offset budget of AODP. Michelle will ask Barb if class is still part of the plan, or if we’ll do something else.
