Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Steering Committee

Minutes from August 15, 2007

Thanks to everyone that gave their time to meet students and parents during Road to Success!

BACCHUS – 14 students showed interest!
- Brian will revisit BACCHUS requirements.
- Michelle will contact Carrie about starting a student organization on campus. Michelle will then set up an info meeting (September 20) for students to attend and learn more about BACCHUS and starting a student org.
- Fliers for the info meeting will be distributed at the Campus Fair/Expo.
Community/Campus Events
- Michelle brought up the idea of making students more aware of events on and around campus that are alcohol alternatives on weekends – perhaps including a posting on SXToday each Thursday.
- It was discussed that AODP could collaborate with Discover Chicago (Rae Joyce) with this idea.
CORE Data/ ACHA Survey

Mary Ann Freitag, faculty in School of Nursing, will be administering the ACHA Survey in September to students. This data, along with the CORE, will be useful for AODP to identify some student behaviors.

We’ll have a table there, and Michelle will generally be around to monitor the table.

Health Center is looking for someone from AODP to collaborate with nurse practitioner Maya that week with on campus alcohol awareness/education.

Anyone interested?
Ideas of having a reflection table, info table, games in the dining hall during this week. Rae Joyce will see if RAs would be interested in being at this table and leading the games (fatal vision goggles, etc).

Next Meeting will be mid-September. Michelle will send out an email.
