Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Steering Committee

Minutes November 13, 2007

  1. Welcome Ron Kus!
    Ron is a RA in Regina and will be joining the AODP committee! 
  2. Thank you, Suzanna and Mike!
    Suzanna and Mike devoted much time and energy into programming with AODP this semester.  You will certainly be missed!
  3. Alcohol Awareness Week Review
     Fatal Vision/Root Beer Keg – About 50 people attended.  Much enthusiasm from students to repeat in Spring.
     Beer Pong – Also about 50 people.  Great response!
  4. CORE Data
    Info can be put on Web page, used in program advertisement, social norms campaign.  Michelle will look at CORE Web site to see how SXU compares with others. 
  5. Alcohol 101+ and Outside the Classroom: is there a workstation in CCS?
    Julie, Rae Joyce and Michelle attended a campus visit with a rep from Outside the Classroom.  Very good program.  Cost is a concern.
  6. Sponsoring @ Basketball game
    Sure!  Suggestion to recommend this as a sanction to judicial officers. 
  7. Alcohol Awareness Month: start brainstorming objectives/ideas
    Drunk Driving Car – Ron will check into this a bit
    Michelle will email Sandy Burkhart and Karen Wood who work with the practicum students in Psych and Nursing.  Hopefully we’ll be able to recruit other great students to work with AODP for Spring semester, especially AAM.
