Heersema is entering his 21st season as head coach of the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball program. His teams have posted a 420-420 record under his guidance. Last season, Cougars finished23-20 overall and third in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) with a record of 7-2.
In 1989, 1998 and 2000 he was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Coach of the Year. In 1989 and 1998, he was the NAIA District 20 Coach of the Year, and, in 2000, the NAIA Region VII Coach of the Year. Heersema has coached two NAIA All-Americans and led his squads to three conference championships (1997, 1998, and 2000) and one national tournament appearance (2000).
Prior to joining the SXU athletics staff, Heersema served as an assistant coach at South Suburban College (Ill.) from 1984-85 and was head coach at Andrean High School in Merrillville, Ind. for the 1986 and 1987 seasons.
Heersema is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Chicago (1986) with a degree in physical education. He was a setter/middle blocker for three seasons on the club team at UIC and currently plays USVA Men's AA Open, which he's been doing for the past 19 years. He currently resides in South Holland, Ill.
Pinkhasik is entering his 15th season of coaching at Saint Xavier. He has previously helped coach at the Russia Olympic volleyball school (1978-90) and for the Second City volleyball club (1992-98).
Pinkhasik graduated from the University of Bela Russia with a master's degree in physical education. He currently resides in Vernon Hills with wife, Raisa Genkina, and daughter, Yelena.
Kuziela is entering her 10th season of coaching at Saint Xavier. She is also entering her eighth season as director of Celtic Force Volleyball Club.
Kuziela is a graduate of Indiana University ('95) and has degrees in psychology and criminal justice. She was a five-year scholarship player at IU and was awarded the Big Ten Medal of Honor for her scholastic and athletic abilities.
She resides in Chicago with husband, Jimmy, and children, Madison and Ethan.
