Liturgical Ministries

Share your gifts with the Saint Xavier University faith community!

We are looking for Chapel Choir vocalists and musicians, Student Liturgical Advisory Board Members, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Greeters/Ushers and Sacristans.

Chapel Choir practices every Sunday at 6:45 p.m. before 8:00 p.m. Sunday Student Mass. All are welcome on any Sunday.

Student Liturgical Advisory Board meets once a month in the chapel.

Lector and Eucharistic Minister Training is held at the beginning of each semester.

PrayerPatio Mass

McDonough Chapel is open for private prayer and meditation Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the academic year and summer.

Special prayer services take place during the Seasons of Advent and Lent, including Reconciliation and Healing Services. Ecumenical prayer services are held for the Anniversary of September 11th, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Founders' Day and other special events.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered to individuals Tuesday and Thursday in the Chapel Reconciliation Room following noon liturgy.

Other opportunities in the Chapel include:

      • Benediction and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is on Monday and Friday at 12:30 p.m.
      • Praying the Rosary on Tuesday and Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
      • Liturgy of the Hours Morning Prayer at 8:30 a.m. on Monday and Friday and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.

Opportunities exists outside of the Chapel for students to engage in prayer and reflection, including in the Residence Halls, sponsored by Residence Hall Ministry. The Meditation Room is an interfaith prayer space on the third floor of Rubloff Hall.
