A chemistry minor complements many majors and pre-professional programs. It is an attractive option for students with majors in biology or business and provides an excellent background for students with career goals in medicine or the environment.
The following courses are required:
| CHEM 111-112 | General Chemistry I and II |
| CHEM 251-252 | Organic Chemistry I and II |
| CHEML 251-252 | Organic Chemistry Laboratory I and II |
Plus one of the following five options:
| CHEM 211 | Analytical Chemistry, or |
| CHEM 301-CHEML 301 | Biochemistry I and Biochemistry I Laboratory, or |
| CHEML 304-CHEM 305 | Synthesis and Characterization Laboratory and Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, or |
| CHEM 311 | Instrumental Methods of Analysis, or |
| CHEM 331 | Physical Chemistry I |
At least nine (9) credit hours of chemistry above the 100 level must be completed at Saint Xavier University in order to fulfill the minor requirement.
A typical course of study showing the usual sequence of required major courses are shown for completion of the chemistry minor track.
