Lifelong Learners Scholarship

The School for Continuing and Professional Studies at Saint Xavier University is awarding scholarships to students exemplifying leadership skills that reflect the University’s core values.  The University’s Mercy heritage as embodied in its mission statement recognizes the intrinsic worth and dignity of each person and is committed to maximizing individual gifts and talents through positive interactions with others and engagement in the search for truth.  The Lifelong Learners Scholarship Fund is intended to assist mature individuals interested in achieving their educational goals by securing a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Arts in Professional Studies. 

The scholarship will be issued in a two-semester period and is renewable contingent upon maintaining a 3.0 grade point average. The recipient is required to enroll for a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a semester.

Application Deadline

  • The deadline for spring applicants must be postmarked or received by November 1.

Scholarship amount: $1,000 per academic year ($500 per semester)

Selection

The Lifelong Learners Scholarship Fund will issue awards on the basis of academic, professional and personal achievement and application content, to the extent funds are available. 

Review Process

A selection committee (includes a panel of staff and faculty representing the School for Continuing and Professional Studies) will review all applications and make a decision by July 15 for Fall applicants and November 15 for Spring applicants.  Applicants will be notified by mail of the status of their application.  The scholarship will be awarded through the School for Continuing and Professional Studies.  Applications received after the deadlines or incomplete packets will not be considered for the current semester.

Lifelong Learners Scholarship Requirements

  • Applicant must be an admitted student of Saint Xavier University.
  • Applicant must be working toward first undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree.
     (Major of study must be declared.)
  • Applicant must demonstrate academic ability with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  • Applicant must submit current resume or personal history.
  • Applicant must submit a personal statement of one (1) page stating why the scholarship is important to his/her academic, professional, and personal goals while recognizing how the University’s core values may influence your life as a student at Saint Xavier University.
