Programs

The Center for Religion and Public Discourse at Saint Xavier University sponsors a number of programs and activities to advance the Center's mission:

To promote scholarship and informed discussion about the common good in the context of faith, organized belief systems, spirituality, religion, and values.

Pub Discourse

“Pub Discourse” is a sharply focused, informal gathering led by a Saint Xavier University faculty member, staff member or administrator.

In the company of Saint Xavier University colleagues, participants conduct a sophisticated and sometimes whimsical exploration of complex and timely topics.

“Pub Discourse,” a gateway to intellectual puzzles, curiosities, and hospitality, promotes the application of a liberal arts education to the discussion of religion, ethics and values.

“Pub Discourse” is open to all Saint Xavier University faculty members, staff members, administrators or invited guests.

Co-sponsored with the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning and the American Association of University Professors, “Ethics in America” positions academics and practitioners in discussions and debates of ethical concern. This year’s series, “Academic Freedom and Academic Responsibility in a Catholic University," has featured and will continue to feature speakers from within and outside the University community.
