The Department of English and Foreign Languages at Saint Xavier University seeks to foster in students and in the University community a deeper understanding of languages and literature, and to prepare students so they may pursue their chosen vocations with competence and versatility. Our goal is to promote in our students a love of literature, a moral awareness of humankind's profound conflicts, an openness to other cultures, an analytical habit of mind and a facility in the spoken and written word.
