The Utilities Department is located in the University Campus Service Center. The goal of the staff is to provide an efficient, warm and comfortable environment during the winter and a cool, comfortable environment in the summer.
The department operates and maintains a central high pressure steam generating plant and campus electrical distribution system. It generates and distributes heating steam to the Warde Academic Center, Regina Hall, Pacelli Hall, Mother McAuley High School, and the Sisters of Mercy Convent. During the winter season the plant operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The plant is staffed by four licensed stationary engineers and one engineer trainee.
Maintenance Requests of an Emergency nature should be reported by one designated individual from the department or facility to the Facilities Management Department by telephone at ext. 3509 or 3544, (additionally after hours or weekends use 3544).
Emergency housekeeping needs may be addressed by the designated individual by telephone at ext. 3257, or 3258, or at the University Switchboard by dialing "0".
