Faculty Development and Support Committee

Committee purpose: to review and recommend policies and procedures for the support, evaluation and recognition of all faculty and staff. This includes:

  • Orientation programs for new faculty and staff
  • Peer mentoring processes
  • Adjunct faculty support
  • Faculty development opportunities
  • Annual review process/evaluation
  • Faculty recognition and awards
  • Provision for hospitality and support
  • Research and scholarship support

What Does The Faculty Development And Support Committee Do?

The goal of the Faculty Development and Support Committee is to provide support to faculty in the School of Education (SOE).  Such support could take the form on disseminating opportunities available for faculty development.  The committee is also charged with creating opportunities for faculty development.  In the past, the Faculty Development and Support Committee created Blackboard Workshops, tailored to meet the needs of SOE faculty.  Currently, the Faculty Development and Support Committee is focused on the following tasks:

  • Design and improvement of the Faculty Development and Support Committee Web site
  • Design of a mentoring strategy for new faculty in the SOE
  • Dissemination of information on faculty professional affiliations, teaching innovations and scholarship accomplishments
  • Creating a repository of information via the web on various avenues for scholarship, including but not limited to: 
    • Grant writing opportunities
    • Opportunities for scholarly presentations 
    • Opportunities for publication
