School of Education Scholarships
Dr. Dorothy Binder Graduate Education Scholarship
This scholarship honors an admitted School of Education (except FBMP) graduate student who possesses the critical qualities of Dr. Binder or has been the recipient of the qualities of Dr. Binder and is cultivating these qualities. Dr. Bet Brophy,'67, Holly June Wainwright, '84, and contributions from family, friends and former students of Dr. Binder established this scholarship.
Dorothy Davis '33 Scholarship
This scholarship honors an admitted Education major with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. A written essay is required. This scholarship was established through the estate of Dorothy Davis.
Friends of Uncle Mike, Inc. Education Scholarship
As a tribute to Uncle Mike Lynch, who was an informal mentor and teach to many young people in his Bridgeport neighborhood, this scholarship recognizes elementary education majors. Applicants should maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and submit an essay. An interview may also be required.
Elaine Gallagher '51 Science Education Scholarship
This scholarship honors an admitted School of Education (except FBMP) student with
a Science major or has an area of concentration in one of the Sciences. Applicants
may also be an admitted School of Education student preparing to teach science. This
scholarship was established through the estate of Elaine Gallagher.

Dr. Lloyd Leake Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship honors an African-American undergraduate student who demonstrates attributes of excellence, service and integrity -- all qualities that embodied Dr. Leake's life. The applicant must also have a GPA of at least 2.8 and have full-time enrollment and admission to the School of Education at Saint Xavier University. This scholarship was established through the generosity of Dr. Elsbeth Meuth.
Julius and Catherine Heerey Malin Scholarship
This scholarship was created from the estate of Helen M. Heerey, who, in her will, designated a gift to create the "Julius and Catherine Heerey Malin Scholarship for students majoring in Education, who is in financial need and maintaining a C+ or better average.
Eunice and George McGuire Scholarship
Through their estates, former School of Education faculty member Dr. George McGuire and his wife Eunice created a permanent investment in the preparation of future educators. Students who receive this scholarship exemplify the qualities of academic excellence, respect, and hospitality. All undergraduate and graduate students (except MATL) in the Saint Xavier University School of Education are eligible to submit an application. The scholarship is a grant applied towards tuition in the following academic year.
