The International Business Degree is an interdisciplinary degree administered by the Graham School of Management which combines coursework in business, foreign language, and area studies to assure students are prepared for positions with global corporations, banks, governments and other international organizations.
Course work is designed to allow students to complete the University core requirements as well as the international business requirements.
When selecting core courses student should work with an advisor to make sure that these courses also fit into the area of study category.
University Core requirements for History (6 semester hours), Religious Studies (6 semester hours), Philosophy (3 semester hours beyond Phil. 150) and Literature/Fine Arts (6 semester hours) should have a non-western culture or international focus.
General University Core Requirements
The Bachelor of Arts degree requires that six (6) additional hours of Foreign Language/Foreign Culture courses be taken. Any natural foreign language course qualifies. Foreign culture includes any course focusing on the literature and/or civilization of a specific society outside the Anglo-American tradition. Foreign culture options commonly include courses from the departments of Anthropology, Art, Foreign Language, History, Philosophy and Religious Studies. Foreign language study is an integral component of the International Business major.
Students are required to have a minimum of 12 semester hours of language study for the International Business major. At least 9 hours must be taken in the study of one language. Students with previous language studies may take a placement test.
