Saint Xavier University offers a variety of graduate opportunities in finance and investment management – three certificates and four degree concentrations allow students the flexibility to pursue the program option that fits their personal and career goals.
Each of the certificate programs can be taken alone or may be used as part of a graduate degree program. Many students start with a certificate program and later decide to pursue the full degree. Below is a brief description of each program offered in the finance/investment management area through the Graham School of Management.
The Master Of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance degree program is designed to provide in-depth, practical, career-enhancing graduate education. Students complete 8 or 9 courses of an extensive management/administration core and 4 courses in finance. The required MBA core represents an integrated curriculum providing both practical applications and a strong foundation in management theory.
The Master Of Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Planning degree program is designed to provide an in-depth practical background for those who wish to enter or enhance careers as accountants or other positions in financial advising. Completion of the MBA core and four of the five courses in Financial Planning meets the requirement for the graduate Certificate in Financial Planning as well as a concentration in our MBA program. Completion of the MBA degree requires eight additional courses for individuals with a business degree. Completion of all five financial planning courses constitutes the education component for the CFP® and is a Board-Registered Program.
The Master Of Business Administration (mba) with a concentration in Financial Analysis and Investments provides practical graduate education for those who wish to enhance their careers in finance and who are interested in becoming Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA)®. The curriculum provides both the breadth and depth in issues related to financial analysis. Completion of the MBA core and concentration courses results in receipt of the MBA and the Certificate in Financial Analysis and Investments.
The Master Of Science In Finance degree program allows students to achieve a greater degree of concentration and customization than the MBA. Working with an advisor, students will be able to create a coordinated sequence of seven related elective courses and six required core courses for a total of 39 hours.
The Certificate In Financial Analysis And Investments (FAI) (CFA® prep) is designed to prepare students interested in becoming Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA)® by providing the skills and knowledge to analyze and evaluate products and strategies. The courses are designed to educate students in the areas tested in the Level I CFA® exam. The Certificate courses may be applied to the MBA or MS degrees.
The Certificate In Financial Planning (CFP® Board-Registered Program) is designed to provide an in-depth practical background for those who wish to enter or enhance careers as accountants or other positions in financial advising. The Certificate courses may be applied to the MBA or MS degrees.
