History Major

The History program offers a wide range of courses in comparative, economic, political and social history, which are supported by the offerings in geography and political science. Students have opportunities for coursework in non-Western, European and American history and may explore such diverse topics as women's history, African-American history and historiography. Also the Senior Seminar offers an opportunity for in-depth research and analysis of exciting topics.

    • HIST 101 World History to 1500 (3 s.h.)
    • HIST 102 World History since 1500 (3 s.h.)
    • SOCSC 101 World Geography (3 s.h.)
    • HIST 395 Senior Seminar (3 s.h.)
  2. Elective Courses with the following distribution (24 s.h.)
    • at least 3 s.h. in American history,
    • at least 3 s.h. in European history,
    • at least 3 s.h. in non-Western history,
    • plus 15 s.h. of additional history courses distributed across the areas
