International Studies

The Department of History and Political Science offers both a major and minor program in International Studies.

Explanation and Recommendations

1. Courses taken to fulfill the General Requirements section of the major also fulfill University Core requirements in history (6 hours) and the social sciences (9 hours).
2. The university Core requires 6 hours of foreign language or foreign culture; six hours of the requirement in international studies may be used toward fulfilling the university Core requirement.
3. Students are encouraged to consider courses in economics when planning electives.
4. Given the complexity of this major, students are encouraged to consult with a department advisor early in the course of study.
5. A semester of study abroad is highly recommended. Every effort will be made to ensure that hours taken at a foreign university transfer back to Saint Xavier University.
