The Saint Xavier University Honors Program offers an enriched academic experience to talented and highly motivated transfer students. The Honors Diploma Track is designed to nurture skills and habits of mind that will enable students to become independent thinkers and learners, and leaders in their chosen fields. Honors Diploma Track students may pursue any undergraduate major in education, management, nursing or arts and sciences.
The Honors Diploma Track encourages students to identify issues and to formulate questions and then to develop strategies for researching them. Students enjoy the rewarding experience of converting abstract ideas into concrete projects. Their endeavors provide impressive credentials for those who proceed to graduate education.
The program provides:
Full time transfer applicants will be notified that they are candidates for the Honors Diploma Track on the basis of the credentials they submit with their application to Saint Xavier. In order to qualify for the Honors Diploma Track, transfer students must plan to pursue their degrees full time, and they must have earned a college GPA of at least 3.50, as well as 30-70 semester hours of college level credit. (Qualified students transferring in fewer than 30 semester hours should inquire about our four year Honors Scholar Track.) To qualify, students must be able and willing to complete a part of their required Honors course work during weekday, daytime hours. Pursuing their candidacy for the Honors Diploma Track requires that students submit an essay articulating their academic goals and their reasons for seeking admission into the Honors Program.
All Honors Diploma Track candidates will be considered for Transfer Awards. Honors courses are scheduled during standard class periods and may be used to satisfy requirements for the undergraduate degree.
