Using CLAWS to Register or Add Classes

Access Claws through any browser at https://claws.sxu.edu. Or just click on the Cougar on the SXU home page (www.sxu.edu). Next, click on Students on the left hand side.

Scroll down to the bottom to see Register/Add Classes and click that

If you know your exact course name/section or synonym (listed in hardcopy course schedules around campus), you can click Express Registration. If not, click Search and register for classes to register.

If it is your first time, you will be prompted to change your password. It will be case sensitive, so be careful. Your new password must be between six and nine letters/numbers, a combination of both, (ie., 123abc). Click Submit when done.

If you chose Express Registration, enter either the synonym or the subject/course/section. Then you must enter the term and take for boxes from the pull-down menus. Click submit on the bottom when done.

If you picked Search and register for classes, you should narrow your search. Pick an appropriate term from the pull down menu, if you only want one subject pick it from the list (or use the bottom portion for more than one subject), and if you know course numbers or sections that would narrow it even further. Click submit when done to see a list based on your search criteria.

If you make mistakes, do not use the back button. Use the Menu button in the upper right hand corner of the Claws screen. The back button does not work.

Remember, always use the menu button, not the back button.

Put a check mark next to the course(s) you want, and click Submit to register.

Be sure to print for your records. You can click on “My Class Schedule” to be sure you are registered for what you want, and print that out also for your records.

That’s it!! Claws offers many more options for Students. Check your grades, make payments on-line, see your academic history, financial aid, and so forth.
