Print Services

How to use the New Print Services in the Labs

Students will be able to print from a lab workstation by selecting Print from the File menu just as before.

  • Select the printer on which you would like the job to print. You can select to print your document in the lab or available printer of your choice. A dialog box telling you how much it will cost to print that particular document and asking you to identify your print job will be displayed.

  • Type in a name for your document and something that allows you to recognize which version of the document you have printed at the print release station.
  • Type in your name to separate your documents from everyone else’s.
  • Type in your password. It can be anything that you can remember.

Documents sent to the printers will be kept in print queues serving the various printers and will only be printed when claimed (released).

  • Go to the print release station near that printer—it could be in the library or in another lab.

  • Type in the username and password that you used when printing the document.
  • Find and select the job that you want printed.

The document will print on the selected (nearby) printer.

Unwanted (unclaimed) documents will be deleted in three days.

Starting during summer 2006, students will sign on to the lab workstations with new usernames, sign on to the print release stations with the same username, and will swipe their Cougar (ID) Cards to release documents for printing.

Each student will be then able to print without charge up to an established limit each semester. Students will not be charged for printing when printing in any given semester is kept below the established limit. Please make sure to budget your printing for the entire semester.

Rather than keeping students from further printing, the costs of printing in excess of the established limit will be charged to the student’s Cougar Card (personal funds) account. Students wanting to print documents on campus, in excess of the established amount allocated, will have to place funds in their personal account on their Cougar Card. Additional funds can be added to your Cougar Card with a credit card through Claws or with cash at Student Accounts.
