Past Scholars

The Middle Eastern Studies Program has applied to the Fulbright Visiting Specialist and Scholar-in-Residence Programs to attract Middle Eastern scholars to Saint Xavier University.  Below are scholars who have visited Saint Xavier University in the past.

Dr. Adnan El-Amine

In the spring of 2004, Fulbright Visiting Specialist Dr. Adnan El-Amine from Lebanon University in Beirut visited Saint Xavier University for two weeks.

Dr. El-Amine is Professor of Sociology of Education in the Faculty of Education at the Lebanese University (since 1977). As a researcher and education expert, he has published and has conducted missions in the Arab States regarding educational assessment and reform.

President of the Lebanese Association for Educational Studies (LAES) since its founding in 1995 he has also been the general coordinator of the study on the evaluation of the New Curricula in Lebanon for the past three years.

During Dr. El-Amine’s two week stay, he spoke to faculty groups and gave a public lecture “Politics and Education: Lessons Learned from Lebanon.”

Dr. El-Amine also gave presentations at Moraine Valley Community College, University of Chicago, and Morgan Park Academy High School.

Dr. El-Amine also provided excellent advice concerning the design of the Middle Eastern Studies minor at SXU.
