Bishop Robert F. Morneau delivers successful Catholic Colloquium lecture at SXU
Theologian and Notre Dame Professor Mary Catherine Hilkert, O.P., Ph.D., to give next lecture on Oct. 8
Chicago (Sept. 25, 2009) Bishop Robert F. Morneau, author, poet, and popular speaker on spirituality spoke yesterday on “Hungers of the Human Heart: A Catholic Poetic Perspective” at Saint Xavier University’s first lecture of the 2009-10 Catholic Colloquium series at the Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St.
Drawing on the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins, Jessica Powers and others, Bishop Morneau addressed human longings such as the hungers for intimacy, meaning and commitment. His lecture was part of Saint Xavier’s annual Mercy Day celebration and the University’s 2009 Homecoming Week festivities. The Office for University Mission and Heritage sponsors the Catholic Colloquium series.
Theologian and Notre Dame University professor Mary Catherine Hilkert, O.P., Ph.D., will give the next Catholic Colloquium lecture, titled “The Human Vocation and the Catholic University: Revisiting Gaudium et spes,” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8 at the Butler Reception Room in the Warde Academic Center on the Chicago campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.
