‘A Thousand Words’ Are Worth Prize Money
‘Ethnic Chicago’ Photo Contest winners announced
CHICAGO (Dec. 17, 2004) – Saint Xavier University has chosen the winners of its 2004 Photo Contest, themed “Ethnic Chicago.”
Earlier this month, Saint Xavier students and alumni submitted photographs depicting Chicago’s diversity.
Out of the many submissions, Saint Xavier student Christina D’Oronzo’s untitled photograph of passengers on the CTA Orange Line won the first place prize of $100. Saint Xavier alumna Patricia Wiseman won the second place award of $50 with her photo of a resident of Chicago’s Southeast Side. Saint Xavier alum Jack Norton won the third place award of $25 with his photo of Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. Ferdinando “Fred” Bilotto received an honorable mention with his “The Procession of the Saint.” These winning photographs will be enlarged, framed and displayed at Saint Xavier’s Chicago or Orland Park campus.
Students and alumni are invited to participate in the 2005 Photo Contest, themed “A Day in the Life of Saint Xavier University.” Potential subjects include special events such as sporting events, Homecoming, Mercy Day, Service Day, Rock the Quad and Taste of SXU. Photographers are also encouraged to capture everyday moments on both the Chicago and Orland Park campuses. The photographs will be judged on how well they capture the essence of Saint Xavier, as well as on their creativity and originality.
Contestants may enter up to three photographs by Nov. 1, 2005.
