Two Saint Xavier University Students Awarded ACI Scholarships
Sophomores Sonja DeSantiago and Nicole Duszak receive awards
CHICAGO (July 13, 2005) – Two Saint Xavier students were recently awarded scholarships through the Associated Colleges of Illinois (ACI), a coalition of 24 private colleges and universities that work together to meet the needs of business, education and society.
Sonja DeSantiago, a sophomore from Burbank, Il., majoring in psychology, was awarded the Fifth Third Bank Hispanic Scholarship worth $2,500 and Nicole Duszak, a sophomore from Chicago majoring in communications, was awarded the A. Montgomery Ward Scholarship, also worth $2,500. Both women were nominated by the Office of Financial Aid for scholarship consideration.
Susan Swisher, director of financial aid at Saint Xavier, said that she is proud that these students were selected to receive awards. “At Saint Xavier University, we are committed to making our high quality of education affordable. As a member institution of the ACI, we are excited about the opportunity to provide scholarships to our students. We are honored that both Sonja and Nicole were selected by ACI as recipients for their scholarships to assist with their educational expenses.”
ACI administers twenty different scholarship programs to qualified students ranging from emergency financial assistance to scholarships for minority women. Scholarships are awarded based on a rigorous review of a student’s financial need and academic merit.
