CHICAGO (Oct. 13, 2005) – The Saint Xavier University Music Department and the Saint Xavier Collegiate Chapter of Music Educators National Conference will present a Halloween benefit concert on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. in the Warde Academic Center’s Rehearsal/Performance Space on the university’s Chicago campus. The one-hour musical program is specifically designed for children under the age of ten and will include musical performances, theater, sing-a-longs and Halloween treats. The event will also feature a creative costume contest and parade. Tickets for the concert are $3 in advance and $5 at the door. All proceeds from the concert will benefit the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.
The VH1 Save the Music Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education in America’s public schools by restoring music programs in cities across the country and raising public awareness about the importance of music participation for America’s youth. The foundation uses donations to purchase musical instruments for schools that lack the funding to do so themselves.
To purchase tickets in advance or make a separate donation to the foundation, please contact the Music Department at (773) 298-3421.
