Saint Xavier Jazz Band performs Spring Concert
Wide variety of jazz styles and sounds will be played
Chicago (March 10, 2006) –Saint Xavier University’s Jazz Band will perform a Spring concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 7, at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., Chicago.
Under the direction of Erik Janners, the Jazz Band is a 20-member ensemble that is committed to jazz education, musical variety and excellence in performance. Janners is an assistant professor of music at Saint Xavier University.
In an effort to display the wide range of styles and sounds of jazz, the Saint Xavier Jazz Band will perform a variety of jazz pieces, from classics such as “Mood Indigo” and “Night in Tunisia” to modern funk works like the Commodores classic “Brick House.”
Admission to the concert is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and visiting students. Admission is free for all Saint Xavier students, faculty and staff with a valid university ID. For additional information, contact the Saint Xavier University Music Department at (773) 298-3421.
