SXU Jazz Band performs Nov. 17
Band to perform at Beverly Arts Center
Chicago (Nov. 1, 2006) – Saint Xavier University’s Jazz Band will perform a fall concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., Chicago.
Under the direction of Erik Janners, D.M.A., director of bands and professor of percussion at Saint Xavier University, the Jazz Band is a 20-member ensemble committed to jazz education, musical variety and excellence in performance. The program will include jazz favorites such as Charles Mingus’s Fables of Faubus and Boogie Stop Shuffle, Cole Porter’s Begin the Beguine, Louis Armstrong’s Potato Head Blues and Gordon Goodwin’s Hunting Wabbits and Samba del Gringo.
Admission to the concert is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and visiting students. Admission is free for all Saint Xavier students, faculty and staff with a valid University ID. For more information, please contact the Saint Xavier University music department at (773) 298-3421.
