'Growing Old Gracefully' lecture to be held Feb. 6

Jim Vanden Bosch of Terra Nova Films to speak

Chicago (Jan. 16, 2007) – Jim Vanden Bosch of Terra Nova Films will explore the topic of “elderhood” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, in Saint Xavier University’s McGuire Hall, 3700 W. 103rd St., Chicago.

“Growing Old Gracefully” is a part of the Winter 2007 John T. Farrell Sr. Forum of Saint Xavier’s Renaissance Academy.
Vanden Bosch will discuss the term “elderhood,” which he coined to highlight the aspects of senior citizenship. He will show two short films and answer questions from the audience.

Some Terra Nova films have been screened at the Gene Siskel Film Center for the Silver Images Film Festival. Terra Nova Films has produced and distributed more than 300 films on aging and elderhood.

The forum is named in honor of John T. Farrell Sr., a senior economic research analyst and deputy branch chief for the Central Intelligence Agency from 1952 to 1979. Farrell and his wife, Lucille, were facilitators at the Renaissance Academy, teaching a class called “Inside Washington” and a writing workshop. After his death in 1994, Lucille gave a contribution to fund the speaker’s bureau in his name.

Questions will be taken following the presentation. For more information, please contact the Renaissance Academy at (773) 298-3149.
