SXU Dean Leslie M. Petty elected to UCEA Commission
Will serve on Commission on Learning, Instruction and Technology
Chicago (March 14, 2007) – Leslie M. Petty, Ed.D., dean of Saint Xavier University’s School for Continuing and Professional Studies and chief campus officer of the Orland Park campus, has been elected to serve on the University Continuing Education Association Commission on Learning, Instruction and Technology.
Founded in 1915, the UCEA is among the oldest college and university associations in the country. UCEA commissions are cross-disciplinary structures that focus member activities and professional development opportunities in core areas as identified by the association’s board of directors. Association members include both public and private accredited colleges and universities, as well as nonprofit organizations with a commitment to professional education.
"I am delighted to have been selected to serve on the UCEA Commission on Learning, Instruction and Technology,” Petty said. “It is the principal U.S. organization for continuing higher education.”
The association helps institutions of higher learning and affiliated nonprofit organizations increase access through a wide array of educational programs and services. UCEA also provides national leadership in support of policies that advance workforce and professional development.
Other universities serving as members of this commission include Brigham Young University; University of North Carolina-Greensboro; University of Texas-Austin; University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; Georgetown University; University of Massachusetts-Amherst; and University of California Berkeley. The association’s offices are located in Washington, D.C., in the National Center for Higher Education.
