Target awards Saint Xavier University $2,000 grant
Grant to help fund 2008 Summer Concert
Chicago (Aug. 6, 2007) – Saint Xavier University announced today that Target has awarded the university a $2,000 grant for the school’s 2008 Summer Concert. The event is also supported by the Illinois Arts Council.
“We are very grateful for the support of institutions like Target and the Illinois Arts Council,” said Vice President for University Advancement Steven J. Murphy. “This in turn allows us to provide a fun family event for the whole community.”
Saint Xavier has offered the free Summer Concert on the front lawn of the Warde Academic Center for the past 11 years. Most recently, the community was treated in June to the music of the Ron Bedal Ensemble and fireworks. Picnickers spread out lawn chairs and blankets to listen and dance as well as partake of ice cream and snacks from Saint Xavier and local businesses.
The grant is part an ongoing effort by Target to strengthen families and communities throughout the country. Since opening its doors, Target has given 5 percent of its income to organizations that support education, the arts, and safe families and communities.
