Saint Xavier University celebrates Arab Heritage Month

Invites public to free Arab music concert Nov. 26

Chicago (Nov. 16, 2007) – Saint Xavier University participates in Arab Heritage Month in Chicago by conducting a tour of the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago and holding an Arab music concert on the SXU Chicago campus. 

In celebration of Arab Heritage Month, the Middle Eastern Studies Program has invited SXU faculty, staff, students and their families to spend a wonderful evening at the Oriental Institute Museum - University of Chicago. 

The tour will take place at 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16th. Museum staff will give a guided tour of the museum’s world-renowned ancient Near Eastern collections. Participants can meet at 5 p.m. at the museum at 1155 East 58th Street, Chicago, Ill. 60637, or they can take a free bus that will leave from Warde Academic Center at 4:30 p.m. and return to campus at 7:30 p.m.

The Saint Xavier community will also be treated to a free concert on Monday, Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. in McGuire Hall. The Middle Eastern Studies Program invites you to an enchanted evening of Arab Music with the Issa Boulos Ensemble. The 11-piece ensemble will perform Arab music with a blend of tradition and innovation. A small reception will precede both events. 

The concert is free and open to the public.
