Town Hall Meeting

Campus Plan Concept

Monday, October 25, 2004
3:00 - 4:30 p.m.
Butler Reception Room

One of the Strategic Directions endorsed by the Board of Trustees in May 2004 calls for the development of a campus master plan that "...supports and fosters excellence in teaching and learning, student growth and development, and collaboration and collegiality." To this end, the Study Team who worked on this aspect of the strategic plan recommended that the University retain the highly respected campus planning firm of Dober, Lidsky, Craig and Associates.

This Town Hall Meeting will give the general University Community a chance to review and respond to the work-in-progress on a campus master plan concept that first began to take shape in the course of the intensive work done last year by the Study Team for Campuses, Facilities, Human Resources, Infrastructure and Finance. This campus plan concept was reviewed by the full Board at their October 2004 meeting. They unanimously endorsed the plan in principle. It includes options for new construction on the central campus, utilization of properties on the south side of West 103rd Street, and possible enhancements of the central campus pedestrian and vehicular circulation network. Mr. Richard Dober and Mr. Charles Craig will give an overview of these ideas, including their findings from benchmarking studies of physical facilities and space utilization at other colleges and universities.

Light refreshments will be served.
