Parking and Traffic Citations carry the following fines:
| Failure to possess or display a campus permit ($15.00 if a permit is purchased when fine is paid) |
$25.00 |
| Parked in restricted area | $20.00 |
| Occupying visitor’s parking space | $50.00 |
| Blocking entrance or exits | $15.00 |
| Parking in no parking zone | $15.00 |
| Obstructing traffic | $15.00 |
| Parking in handicapped zone | $150.00 |
| Parking over lines or blocking two (2) parking spaces | $15.00 |
| Parking 15 ft. of a fire hydrant or in a fire lane | $50.00 |
| Parking on lawn or mulch beds | $20.00 |
| Failure to obey a stop sign | $30.00 |
| Traveling in wrong direction in lot or on roadway | $20.00 |
| Careless or reckless operation of a motor vehicle | $50.00 |
| Disobeying a public safety officer's signal | $20.00 |
| Counterfeit or fraudulent use of a parking permit | $100.00 |
| Parking in a reserved residential parking space | $20.00 |
| Second offense in the same semester | $50.00 |
| Third offense in the same semester | Towed |
| Overnight parking outside of assigned zone | $20.00 |
| Second offense in the same semester | $50.00 |

| Speeding (traveling in excess of 15 MPH) | $30.00 |
| For each subsequent offense within one year | $50.00 |
The following violations occurring on private property are enforceable by the Chicago and Saint Xavier University Police Departments and may be prosecuted in Traffic Court or the Circuit Court of Cook County:
| Parking in a handicap zone | $150.00 |
| Parking in a fire lane | $50.00 |
| Parking within 15 ft. of a fire hydrant | $50.00 |
| Operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol | $500.00 and 48 hours in jail or community service |
Note:
Saint Xavier University reserves the right to tow a vehicle, at the owner’s expense. The safety and welfare of all individuals utilizing campus property will always be strictly enforced. Storage, abandonment, and incurred payments will be the responsibility of the vehicle’s owner. All unauthorized vehicles left on campus after 2:00 a.m. are subject to tow at the owner’s expense. Saint Xavier University is not responsible for any vehicle damage or theft while parked on the campus. During severe rainstorms, some parking lots may flood. Any unauthorized reproduction of parking permit placards may result in criminal prosecution. Permits remain the property of Saint Xavier University.
You have the option to appeal all citations issued. Please use our Parking Citation Appeal Form to appeal your citations. Please note, you must save the form to your desktop before filling it out. You will need to submit the completed form and a photo copy of all citations that are being appealed on the form to Public Safety. All documentation must be received by the Public Safety Department within 14 days of the issued date on the citation.
