The primary purpose of the Saint Xavier University parking and traffic regulations is to provide clear and consistent procedures and enforcement guidelines in order to maintain pedestrian safety and orderly vehicular movement and parking on campus. All regulations are in effect and enforced throughout the calendar year. The University reserves the right to amend the regulations as may be deemed necessary by the Administrative Council. During special events, certain areas may be designated as reserved parking zones. All students, faculty, and staff who intend to park a vehicle on campus must register their vehicle with the Department of Public Safety. The purchase of a parking permit does not necessarily guarantee a convenient parking space on the 103rd Street Campus. The responsibility of finding a legal parking space is the sole responsibility of the vehicle operator. Inability to find a convenient parking space is not an excuse for violating University parking regulations. Vehicle registration must be completed within seven (7) calendar days of the start of each semester or session.
Permit Information
The price of a general purpose and Pulaski Center residential overnight permit is $80.00 a year. The price for residential overnight permits on the 103rd Street campus is $160.00 a year. Orland Park Campus parking permits are free of charge and are issued to students who are only registered for classes at the Orland Park Campus or assigned faculty and staff members. All permit tags must be displayed from your rear view mirror with the holographic number facing out. Permits are valid until August 31, 2008.
Parking Availability
There are 1,776 parking spaces available for student, faculty, staff and visitor use at the Chicago campus. 1,592 of the parking spaces are located on the 103rd Street Campus and 184 parking spaces are located at the Pulaski Center’s Lot 14, just south of 103rd Street on the east side of Pulaski Avenue. There are also 316 spaces at the Orland Park Campus.
Residential Overnight Parking Program
In order to balance the needs of our growing residential population and our commuting students, staff and faculty with the greatest amount of general parking adjacent to the Shannon Athletic and Warde Academic Centers, we have implemented a zoned residential parking plan. Parking spaces have been specifically marked and reserved for residential students only in parking lots, 4, 6, and 14. These residential spaces are painted white and are marked “RESERVED.” Any unauthorized use of these spaces will result in a fine and the vehicle subject to being towed at the owner’s expense.
Shuttle Service

The shuttle will depart every 20 minutes starting at 7:30 a.m. and will run through 10:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Each shuttle stop is clearly designated with a sign at the following locations:

All Off-Campus Apartments
If you are working late and need a ride to or from the Pulaski lot after 10:30 p.m., simply dial 3541 to contact a Public Safety Dispatcher or use the yellow emergency phones located in parking lot 14. The university also operates a weekend shuttle, Friday thru Sunday, which transports students to the CTA Orange Line train at Midway Airport. The shuttle also makes transports to several off-campus stops, to local businesses and off-campus housing. For information concerning shuttle routes and schedules.
Campus Map
A map detailing the locations of all University parking lots, shuttle stops and emergency telephone locations within each lot is enclosed.
Emergency Telephones
Most University parking lots are equipped with emergency telephones that will automatically ring to the Department of Public Safety Dispatch Center 24 hours a day. The emergency telephones are yellow in color with a red placard affixed to the outside. Simply push and release the emergency button to activate a two-way emergency response call to a Public Safety Dispatcher, and speak clearly into the microphone. This phone may be used for any emergency situation or to report an injury or any unsafe condition.
Safety Escort Service
There may be occasions when it is necessary to stay late in the evening. If requested, Public Safety Officers or Student Walk Patrol Officers can provide a safety escort to your vehicle. Vehicle response time is generally less than one minute, unless officers are assigned to another call for service. To request an escort, contact the Public Safety Dispatcher at extension 3541 or use any of the red emergency phones located inside the University and the yellow emergency phones located in the parking lots.
Vehicle Assistance
Vehicle assistance includes jumping a dead battery, lockouts, and contacting a local service station for additional assistance. The Department of Public Safety cannot assist with changing flat tires or opening locked vehicle doors that are equipped with side-curtain airbags. Lockout assistance requires a standard waiver form to be completed and signed by the owner of the locked vehicle.
