Pepsi-Cola Becomes Official Beverage of Saint Xavier University

CHICAGO (July 23, 2001) – Saint Xavier University and Pepsi-Cola General Bottlers have signed an exclusive ten-year agreement naming Pepsi-Cola and its brands as the official beverage of Saint Xavier. In exchange, the beverage retailer will provide financial and marketing support to the University.

The agreement named Pepsi as the official supplier and distributor of cold beverages, as well as an advertiser, of Saint Xavier. In exchange, the University will receive a one time donation as well as annual financial and marketing support to its general fund, athletic department, and student activities. In addition, Saint Xavier will receive commission dollars on beverages sold on campus.

Pepsi is just the latest in popular foods distributed by Saint Xavier University. Over the past two years, Saint Xavier has also become the distributor of Starbucks coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts. These two hard-to-find favorites on the South Side, as well as a wide variety of Pepsi products, are served daily from the Cougar Pause refreshment area in Saint Xavier’s Convocation and Athletic Center.
