CHICAGO (August 27, 2001) – Saint Xavier University will host a 5K run/walk on Saturday, September 29 in conjunction with its annual Homecoming festivities. Runners and walkers of all levels, ages 14 and up, can participate in this jaunt through nearby Evergreen Park.
“We are very excited about this event and adding a new tradition to Homecoming Weekend,” said Jenny Kjos, Fitness Coordinator at Saint Xavier University. “This is a great activity for not only our students and alumni, but for the entire community.”
Running and walking are two of the best and affordable methods of exercise. Benefits of these cardiovascular and weight-bearing exercises include increased bone density, reduced risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes, alleviation of depression, and assisting in weight loss.
